Unless you've got long, thin fingers (and tools...) you'll need to lift the tank to get enough space to work to fit the QD connectors - I used a block of wood on top of the battery to hold the tank up while I worked. So if you're not removing the tank for some other purpose don't do the job now! Far better to wait until you need to remove the tank and do it then. Fit the QD connectors half way up the flexi pipes - if you fit them too close to where the flexi pipes join the solid ones there won't be enough 'flex' to allow you to move the tank upwards to disconnect the QD's. And don't cut too much length out of the pipe!
You can use pinchers (what you use to remove nails from wood) to crimp the clamps - worked well for me. Otherwise you can replace them with jubilee clips.

Cheers Sproggy... that's exactly what I needed to know. The tank is already off (removing a stud from the headers) so it should be fairly easy to do.
