Hi,
Just seen this,
if you have ordered a bike one that you wish to use in your car,
has it got a built in speaker to save using a earpiece in the car. ?

I didn't ask that question when I rang them to order it.
Would assume either the unit, or the car mount has a speaker, otherwise it aint any use - not fit for purpose etc.
Let you know when I get it.

Speaker is on the back of the Zumo. It also hooks up to your phone in the car or on the bike.

It comes with bike mount, car mount, short ram arm, u-clamp etc

The reason I said that was some time ago I was looking at getting a Garmin bike one (no idea which one it was) and
was told by the sellers there was no internal speaker nor was there in the Tom tom rider so I just used my old car TT on the bike.



ps which model is it you ordered

The bike GPS units usually have the speaker in the car mount as one doesn't need a speaker when it's mounted on the bike. A wired or bluetooth earpiece is used.

That's the case with the 500/550 series, but the 660 knows which mount it is fitted to and alters the settings to suit.

The speaker is in the 660 and switches in and out depending upon which mount it is in.

Well can't fault the service from Handtec, 3 texts to tell me order processed, then sent by DPD, then what time it will be delivered.
And is was too, right at the beginning of the one hour slot they said - proper service that.
Cheers Al for the recommendation, just got to move the bars up to above the yokes, fit new brakelines and the sat nav now.

Ah, I'm technologically redundant. I'm still on the 550.

The 550 is a great unit, and worth hanging on to.

Positives:
1) It is apparently better built than the 660
2) You don't need to remove the battery to get to the memory card.
3) The access is by hinged door, rather than one that you could lose.
4) It takes SD card rather than Micro-SD
5) When on roundabouts - it doesn't re-orientate as quickly as the 660 - this is a benefit, as the 660 starts moving the exit roads and can cause confusion.

Negatives:
1) Smaller screen with less information instantly available.
2) Heavier
3) Bulkier form-factor

Forgot to mention I bought a pair of Cardo Scala G9 Bluetooth Headsets for listening to the Garmin and talking to the GF on her bike as well. From a recommendation of a mate in Shrewsbury who uses them and had Autocom ones previously.

Ok - the continuing saga of my frustration with technology.

Spent an hour and a half trying to find a manual on the Garmin site so I can see how to download a route from Ride mag into the zumo 660.
Once that hurdle overcome, I follow the instructions (already got the route onto my pc) and nothing.

Highlight the file on pc; copy; open zumo; paste ......and zilch
Can someone please help as nothing is appearing on the Zumo and yes it is connected with the usb wire.

On my old BMW navigator III+ (rebadged Streetpilot 2820) I use garmin mapsource and would open the file in mapsource then "send" it to the USB connected sat nav unit

Thanks Steve - but I haven't got mapsource.
Is it the same as basecamp which I downloaded but is gobbledegook compared with Google maps.

I just followed the Garmin Zumo manual instructions and Ride mag says the GPX files go straight into the Garmin.
