Wistful post there bikesnbones I don't think the BMW dealer in Clapham is still there and the other one I don't know about.
I rarely venture to SW London for two reasons. One, it's a pain in the arse to get there. And two, there's nothing worth riding there for (now that I have a BM and your recommendation has gone).
So I head south and aim for the coast wherever possible. It's not like riding in Derbyshire, Yorkshire, Lancashire or Cumbria but Kent and Sussex is as good as it gets in SE England.
You're fortunate to have less traffic down there. Enjoy your lie-ins! (Rideouts here require an early start!)

I lived in Eltham 15 years before moving to the SW.
There is a lot to be said for rural life, but there is a lot I miss about the SE.
Like the Sunday ride to Box Hill.
The impromptu blast down the A21 to Hastings for fish and chips and a stroll down the pier.
And so on.
Down here, there are lot's of nice scenic roads, but very few destinations,
I feel very isolated down here in comparison to London, where there were always places to go and things to do every day of the week.
In hindsight, I think I should have stayed, but it's too late now.
I couldn't afford to move back.
Bikesnbones, I don`t know where you are in Devon but if you think there arn`t many destinations you need to go to the right places
P.S.Welcome Dezie.

That depends on what your idea of a good destination is.Al wrote:Bikesnbones, I don`t know where you are in Devon but if you think there arn`t many destinations you need to go to the right places![]()

If you'd lived in London for any length of time, you'd know what I mean,
Give me a few examples of what your idea of great destinations are down here.
Depends what you want to do, Torrington common for a coffee on Saturday about 12 noon would be a good start and I will give you a list and Popsky will have a few ideas as well.

Cheers.
Where I live is pleasant enough, but everywhere is geared towards tourists and I've had enough cream tea's, and seen enough crappy tourists souvenir shops to last me a lifetime.

Bike arrived yesterday! Woop! Saddest part is though, I drove the 4 feet into the garage then had to lock it up
Still sitting there at home waiting for me. Home tonight though and hopefully have a shake down ride tomorrow. Stay dry! I'll get some pics upload too, I don't think I can do it from the phone on this forum?

Parping my way along... Actually yes, I do blow my own trumpet.
