Think your original post speaks volumes...... I've been a BMW owner for 12+ years (still got our 11S) but each time I read posts such as yours and visit the BMW delaerships I come away disappointed as I feel they're charging premium prices for machines which are poorly finished and reliability seems to be a bit hit or miss. Don't get me started on their prices for servicing etc...... I've read on Boxertrix that if you're gonna buy a 'modern' BMW bike then tis well worth forking £350-ish per year for extended warranties etc

I totally agree with all of this. I only owned BM's (on and off) for approx 10 years - and had some fabulous times on them - but the thought of the cost of them now (new or nearly-new) plus the price of servicing makes me wince.

I always thought I'd have a boxer engine again......

Thinking maybe not now as no matter what, BMW is going to make a tonne of cash out of me, even if I keep the GT, its £400 serviceing then £360 extended warranty.

Nothing is catching my eye out there except maybe the CB1300S, and I'm not sure at that.... Maybe it's time to pass my car test!

GSX1250Fs are tempting at my local suzuki dealer at £6700 brand new!

ooocha! 1250 Bandit is very uncomfortable if you intend doing some touring miles (I know as Mrs. Big Rob & I rode one from bonnie Scotland to kent on one and were both in agony when we got there )
On the plus side it is a cheap'n'cheerfull machine and does what it says on the can (talking of cans, Ive got a shiny BOS exhaust for the 1250 if you do buy one )

Funnily enough my neighbour Kath, says the same thing, she wouldn't come to Scotland last year with us because of it, reckoned 100 miles a time was all her backside could stand

In all fairness one of the positives of the K12GT is it's comfort, I've done 1000 miles plus per day and been able to walk after wards. The first long trip I did on it in one hit was coming home from Ullapool to Wrexham which was about 500 miles, apart from one fuel stop, did it in one hit and in all fairness could've turned around and gone back it was so easy on the K. It's the main reason I've kept mine so long as I cannot see what I could replace it with with the limited budget I have nowadays.

Steve - the 1250's a lot of bike for the money, but the motor is dull as ditchwater. A friend of mine owns one and whilst admitting it's a worthy enough bike (although uncomfy) he says the engine is completely devoid of any kind of character. A shame as the 1250 was on a shortlist for me some time ago.

From the short ride on the Bandit 1250 I had a couple of years back the engine is just too linear right through the rev range, makes a nice amount of torque, but you would expect that.

Have a bash on a Fazer, you can get them kitted up like the bandit, a much, much better bike.

Be different and get yourself a low mileage TDM 900 with full luggage...

Oberon do clutch slave cylinders for the K series I think. The owner was in Garmisch and pretty sure they swapped one over and bled it in the hotel car park - supposed to ease the action of the clutch -he reckons pretty much a standard swap for the heavy clutch on Ducatis
