Tested for air leaks with easy start spray and no indication of any leaks.
Hooked up the vacuum gauges and they were well out. Need a run now to see how much of an improvement we have.
Synchronising is a devil with the individual cables and throttle stops.
Ever heard of carb icing on these things? Bearing in mind I'm running individual pod filters.

I believe carb icing was a problem with them due to the long inlet and the carbs being out in the cold
Little tip for balancing twins set both sides up to the book then do the fine tuning on one side only get it running smoothly then drop tickover by backing out both throttle stops the same amount
Hope this helps Dai

Happy to help
I almost forgot set up the carbs with the cables slack adjust the cables last
The reason i do it this way is it saves all the running round the bike
I'm no expert but have been working on my own and other people's bikes for over 40 years

Hi
I forgot to ask this question:-
When I took out the little screws on the vacuum take off on the underside of the carbs, there were no sealing washers. Should there be any?
The ferrules/stems look like maybe they're brass so perhaps no screw required.
Cheers.

Now you have me i don't know but it would not hurt to fit some small o rings to them
There again if they showed no leak when you did the test for air leaks possibly not
A manual would be of help here there is probably one available as a free download
Cheers Dai

Apologies i had a better idea last night a bit of grease on the threads would work better than orings a normal lithium grease will be fine
Sorry about that Dai

Thanks dai W
Yes, I don't think o rings are the right thing either. Would tend to extrude themselves out (or in) and prevent surface friction under the screw head ie tightening.
Many thanks again.
It's not that they seem to be causing any issue, just it occurred to me that there is no washer. Maybe that is deliberate.

I have been lying in hospital for most of the day thinking about it and came to the conclusion that grease on the threads of the air screws would be a good idea as well
Another thought set the valve clearances first then ignition settings do the carbs last
I have had anesthetic today so may not be making much sense Dai
