Agree with Meerkat on this one.
The R1100S may be slower in a straight line - but there's not much that could get away from one on a twisty road - especially if you throw in some bumps.
I have a friend who used to run an R1150GS - he could romp away from me on the Aberystwyth Mountain Road, regardless of what I was riding - and I'd tried a Ducati 750SS, Honda VFR800, Honda VFR750 and R100RT against it!
When I bought my 11S, he traded the GS for a Yamaha SuperTen and the tables were turned - his SuperTen was left for dead by the 11S.
