Cheers all, summat else I've noticed, the engine crankcase is painted black, thought nothing of it but all the other ones in ads I've seen are painted silver? I'm going to be a bit snookered with a private sale, I don't have that much in cash to hand but was offered a deal on 0% credit card so I thought bollox to it, I'm only here once. I've worked out I can spend about £2800 and clear it off before the interest kicks in.

The black motor was standard on some years so all could be good the oil leak could be nothing or a sign of more serious damage, mine weeps a bit from the left crankcase where it was welded up after cracking when the left pot was ripped off, but it's got no worse in the five years since the last rebuild it's just a charicter[spelin] of my bike

Cheers Dai, they cracked it up and let it tick over for 5-6 min and there was a 1 inch pool of oil under it so bit more than a weep I think. They did say they'd sort the faults before I bought it though. Hmm, I'll keep looking and maintain a weather eye on this one.

There are a few out there at your budget. I would hang on for another. You would not want to buy it and find out the clutch has been contaminated, depending on where the leak is from.

Hang around here long enough and a known bike will come along.

Cheers Herb, that's what I'll be doing.

And I know I can't be too picky at my budget but I'd really prefer one in mandarin or the grey/yellow scheme.

It may be worth putting the details up on here the bike may be known, mine and a few others will leave a pool of oil if put onto the centre stand too quickly [i told you they have charecter[spellin] after being run if you leave them on the side stand for a few minutes before putting onto the centre stand the leak's stop but that is the leak from the timing case at the front of the motor this is a good barganing point] if it's leaking from somewhere else [like mine ] this is not normal and should be looked at very closely[spelin agan]
Hope this helps Dai
