I may be being a complete numpty here, but TWO magazine is offering a free Krall lock and 1.5m chain if one subscribes for a year. The online subscription is £9.83 a quarter (extra discount for doing it online). The lock and chain plus bag is supposedly worth £69.99 - and a quick internet check shows that this is a fairly realistic price.
I am new biker so I need a lock anyway. I can't really see any downside to this deal.
Offer expires 30 May.
I have only bought the magazine once so far. Anyway, I decided to go for it.
Free lock?

Sounds like a good deal to me. You might love the mag, just because some "Landaner" says its crap means nothing. ( Only joking f90x)

AJM, whatever you get its better than nothing, and those Krall lock/chain combos get good results, but as head banger says nothing is impossible.
as a tip however, i did once read that if the chain and lock is of the ground then it makes it very difficult to crop even with a cheaper chain.
ps, no need to avoid me

Thank you. My view is that a lock and chain is a deterrent. Nothing will stop a serious thief and there is a limit to the amount of weight and bulk that can be carried around to deter them.
I value the bike no more than what I have it insured for. It is only a bike and there are plenty around.
In practice, depending on whichever way one looks at it, this is either a free lock or a free magazine.
