M40/A40 Long term Roadworks on Denham Viaduct between M40 Junction 1 and Hillingdon Circus
Many of you may have seen the SPECS camera's being erected on the Denham section of the A40/M40 in the past couple of weeks
Starting from today (26th March 2008) for up to 34 weeks the Highways Agency have commenced roadworks on the Denham Viaduct
The works consist of repairing and/or renewing the existing brickwork parapets that carry the A40/M40 over the valley from Swakeleys junction to M40 Junction 1
There will still be 3 lanes running in either direction, but they will be reduced in width, the nearside will be 3.25 metres wide, lanes 2 and 3 will be 2.5 metres wide.
There will be an enforcable 40mph speed limit throughout the works, commencing Westbound at Hillingdon Circus and Eastbound near to Junction 1 of the M40
This speed limit will be enforced by SPECS cameras (westbound by The Met and eastbound by Thames Valley) and throughout the duration of the works will be "live"
There will be an on site 24 recovery service provided, (Heavy and light recovery) as soon as I get full details I will let you all know.
This recovery service will be positioned on the westbound on-slip to the A40/M40 from Swakeleys Roundabout, this positioning will also mean that the slip road will have a reduced width
and at times during the works it will be closed to traffic.

yeah, i saw those at the weekend. at least it's just for the duration of the roadworks. i don't mind that. i wouldn't want to be working on the road with people flying by at high speed either. just so long as they are taken down once the roadworks have finished. this is a real bummer though. i live in london and keep my bike in beaconsfield, so now my journey to get to it will take even longer, and all through the summer!
