Conti Road Attacks rapid wear

Anyone else noticed this, the funny thing is its the front thats really gone quick, 2500 Miles and in one place the fronts down to nearly 2mm, backs not much better with 3-4mm in quite a few places, started with 7mm, reckon they will be cattled by 3k, umm dont seem so cheap now, mind you cant fault the wet weather grip.

I wasn't overly impressed by wear rates. Back seemed to square off very quickly and that's on my Deauville.
I was looking at the blurb that comes with Pilot Road 2's. They say they are the hardest wearing tyres. Next in their tests were Avon Storms, then Bridgestone 021.......Road attacks were at the bottom of the list.
They are cheap. Nuff said.

yeah, maybe gonna try the Pilot 2's or the Storms, dont get on with Bridgestones

Generally on the S I find the front wears just as quickly as the rear regardless of tyre manufacturer.

Cheers mate, yeah I know about the direction issues, but with the last tyres, Mez4's, got 4.5K out of the back and just over 7k out of the front, ok not quite as grippy as the Road Attacks, but even cheaper,I know people are raving about the Mich Pilot 2's, but Im thinking, are they really worth £100 more, I cant outride the Mez4's unless Im being a twat, especially this time of year, so maybe Ill go back to them

I am suprised to read about timbox2 poor tyre life. I fitted the Road Attacks after reading good reviews, developed for BMW by BMW and my local bike shop said they hadnt had a single complaint on about twenty sets they had fitted. £155 the pair on loose wheels. So I have just done a check, 6000 miles in eighteen months - that is low due to the rubbish weather all last year - and have average 2.5mm and 3.5mm remaining front and rear. The rear has started to square off and it may have been the conditions on Saturday, but it did skip out a few times on the damp patches and drain covers. On clean, dry roads and the warmest January weekend ever, I was throwing it about as usual with no worries. I have toured a couple of thousand mile journeys on them and am pleased with the return on tyre life and great grip. They are much better than the Battleaxe I ran before.
Tyre research has moved on in the two years, so the next set, about summertime I reckon, will be the Road Pilot 2. They appear to be the best value for money + grip.

I don´t know about the BMW (yet) but I have Pilot Road 2s on my Ducati ST2 after being really happy with the Pilot Roads and would not change back. I know for sure that as soon as the tyres on my Beemer are down I shall be putting Pilot Road 2s on. As soon as I get my bike that is!!!!!!!

Never get any near that sort distance out of my tyres no matter what brand i use.

think Im just heavy on tyres, I do like opening the throttle a lot, and I know I leave braking quite late, perhaps I should try to be smoother, but its the sound, sooo addictive
