While reading the 'Bikemart' section of the comic this week I noticed a small write-up on the impending R1200s HP2 Sport, which the article claims is a "specialist performance machine" and is "based on the R1200S sports tourer"
So all you chaps who have bought the 'sport, sport, sport' R1200S I'm afraid your mistaken (according to the hacks at MCN anyway).
I know one Trixter who is going to be happy though

It could have been a great sports-tourer and sales success if BMW would have not decided to produce a "real sportsbike" by making the options list so short compared to the R1100S.
As the slow sales suggest it will be gone soon...unfortunately.
Like the "night rider" R1200ST.
So ugly you would only ride it at night. Therefore the bright headlight...
Hopefully with the real HP2 Sportboxer out now they turn the R1200S into the sport-tourer and R1100S successor a lot of riders are still waiting for!
Bring on the longer options list;bigger tank, real bags, rack, centerstand and two up seat straight from the factory and SOON!!!
The broken record...

tourer
hi
the bike mags and comics are unfair to call it a tourer, or may be i should go and buy a topbox for it . it would be the last bike i would tour on . they handle as good as any sports bike on the market if not better. the gs models with out handle a lot of decent sports bikes with a half decent rider on not even trying .trail tourer , bike aug 2006 has a good write up for the 1200s . i have used a ktm950 sm for touring , its a head case machine for sure , so is that a touring machine as well . in fact that bike has blitzed most bikes in handling dept . the mag write ups are unfair in a lot of ways and don't test them in the real world . after all how many of us can do track days every weekend . and if it don't look like race rep its dismissed as crap anyway . sad , nuff of that for now ,back to the Honda 90 race bike .tourer race rep

R1200S sports-tourer that isn't allowed to be one...
Nu2beemers,you are so mean baiting me like this...
But I must be the spokesman for the silent majority otherwise the sales had been much better because the R1200S is a mighty fine bike but but badly let down by the unusual short list of options for a BMW to support the fact that is is not a sport-tourer but hardcore sport bike...
The stupid marketing men srewed themselves out of otherwise dead certain sales...

BMW-Fahrer... It does not impress as you continue on and on. Incorrectly I might add. BMW did deliver the bike you seek. The R1200ST. Don't confuse the objective with the subjective.
You ask...
The ST delivers on the preceding and then some, in a lighter and better handling package than the 11S. All reviews of the ST note this despite your wish it wasn't so. You let the subjective (appearance) cloud your objective reasoning and it is plain to see.
From repetitive posts in forums, to using different forum id's, to letters to magazine editors, change the tune and show us all you can provide valuable content to the rider community.

If you see two people talking, and one of them looks really bored......he's the other one!
