Well mine certainly is---Took it in to Astle BMW this morning to arrange some warranty work and the "New" motorcycle sales manager asked if it was a limited edition model, Pardon says I and he comes back with Boxertrix R1200s is it a limited edition model. Don't hold out much hope for him!!!!

Peter.

It's a pity they haven't stopped production of sales managers eh?, I was informed by Southport BMW's sales director!!! that they don't make panniers for the 1200S, never have and never will......pratt

If I bought ex. stock the discount was big - but If I wanted a spec they didn't have I could expect to wait 16 weeks and pay full price.
My dealer actually built my bike out of two stock bikes rather then order one from teh factory.

Everywhere I take the bike it gets looks - people looking at it and saying 'I didn't know BMW did anything like this?'

South London did the same, I couldn't get the exact spec I had in mind, couldn't get the onboard computer, oh well no major loss, but at SLM they swapped the suspension units about to give me what I wanted..

I was outside Hein Gerrick yesterday and I was approached by a few people asking questions about the 12, all ignoring the MV and Dukes that were there too.. LOL

Stopped for a break on my last ride at a popular bike hang out and I had two gents come up to me to tell me they were just talking over breakfast about the 12S and that they had come to the conclusion it was the one of the best looking bikes ever made.

I don't really find it that but I do LOVE to ride it!

I started reading this thread wondering whether to call in "Cash in the attic" to help sell my collectable R1200S, and by the time I got to the end of it that inclination had morphed into total indecision. I love the way my mind works.

Just off to wash the bike - back soon :)

The future of the R1200S...

Postby BMW-Fahrer » Sat Oct 13, 2007 5:24 pm

It will be interesting to see if the new HighPrice-S will turn the R1200S into a late sales success due to it's lower price...
Or BMW does what they one did with the R1100S but reversed. While the sports-touring R1100S became a solo sportster later with the intoduction of the boxercup the R1200S could/should get the options to make it a successful sports-tourer and worthy successor/replacement for the R1100S.Except for a bigger tank it would be very easy and cheap to adapt seat, centerstand and rack from the F800ST...
The small tank, bags could be tolerated as a small nuissance if you really had too...
