As time goes by, there are bound to be topics/questions/requests for info which get repeated. As a reminder to folks who haven't used it, the 'Search' function is useful for gathering info on a specific topic; huggers...throttle balancing...the metal used in the bar end weights etc etc.
Search results can also throw up a broader source of info than starting a new thread, as it will get results from all the forums on the board.

I'd given this quite a bit of thought - FAQ's are ok, it's just that many folk often have several questions regarding just one topic. Something an FAQ list might not cover to their satisfaction (and they'd end up asking the same questions in a new thread anyway - it nearly always happens).
With the 'search' facility there's immediately a list of threads to choose from to while away those boring afternoons...

I was actually meaning a FAQ thread - see the top of VD's Workshop forum for an example.
It's a constantly growing list of links to "good" threads.

rice burner; Then whats the problem with the search?? I personally have not bother reading a majority of the VD faq's as they have not been that interesting, usefull or at all good.. No matter how many thank yous appear, this would still not constitute a 'good' thread..
When can the Highway agency lay softer road coverings??

ummm, sorry, I didn't say there was anything wrong with search.
We actually started the Workshop FAQ in VD cos search wasn't working (before the recent upgrade) and tbh I haven't added to it that much recently.
The "official" FAQ in VD is not what I'm talking about btw - it's the sticky thread at the top of the Workshop forum that I run.
The threads there were mostly just suggested to me by those who had found them useful.

Be gently on me I have just come off nights.
It is the workshop area in visordown.com, the two sticky threads at the top.
