Blackall.... I bought 2 arms... the smallest which I use on the S and a slightly bigger one for other things. $10.50. As you can see the actual reservoir cover is the costly bit.
Item Ref. Price ea. Qty. Description
RAM-STDARM $12.00 1 3" Black R-A-M Arm
RAM-STD $10.50 1 Standard Base
RCB-RESCVR-L+SMALL $85.50 1 BMW Reservoir Cover (Left) +
R-A-M Ball
The picture shows the smallest arm. I use a 90 degree plug into a waterproof socket on the black plastic behind the winker. When I take the side panel off, I located the quick release plug and socket in the wiring next to the connector for the winker. I used a 90 degree plug because the std plug sticks out so much that it would foul the handle bar grips etc etc
Hope this helps prospective "fitters"
It is bloody sunny over here at the moment but only 15 degrees outside with 50 mph winds.... hence being inside the finca on the computer... oh what joy
cheers

Ignorance is a great virtue. I fitted the exact same bracket as you have shown and it has worked perfectly for about 5yrs without a problem apart from having to tilt it forward to get the ignition key in. But there again with my looks you don`t really bother about aesthetics,as long as it works.

I can't find that handlebar clamp on the Touratech site. They don't even list the 1100S anymore. It's not anywhere in GPS or 'general' tabs so where can I find one? Anyone got a store/online link?
I'm asking because I've bought a GPS for which you can get a handy bicycle handlebar mount - only it's difficult to mount on the S without normal bars. I can't get a RAM mount to fit the backplate of the GPS carrier to this is the easy option for me.
The unit is much smaller than the 2610 so *shouldn't* suffer the same problems.

Accepting that it's a pretty average design, I added some heat shrink on the threads, put some sticky sponge on the bracket, and got a key with out the rubber, (BMW part, too) and job done.

Yup, got the rubberless key, however it's a bit of a pox when you loose your key and then have to use an original rubberised key shouldn't have to work around a design failure
For what it's worth (and bearing in mind that I sold the upper part of the Touratech to Minivin) it worked fine for me before I changed the GPS. I have still got the original base fitting on now. The unit never obscured the clocks and I got used to the key being a bit fiddly. Out of interest, the brochure in Minivin's first picture appears to show the yoke fitting mounted "backwards" despite Touratech's instructions to the contrary.
yup, and I don't know whether it's an optical illusion but the parts picture seems to suggest that the tabs are kinked outwards slightly rather than being parallel.....
Oh, and the lock when nothing fits vibrates harder than a Rampant Rabbit it's annoying the hell out of me at present accelerating through the gears, may have to strip the lock assembly and stick a rubber washer or summit in there to stop the mechanism vibrating

I seems to mount a little further back than yours and is fully adjustable so there is no problem with the key or the line of sight.

Ahhhh, just noticed, you put yours on the wrong way around as well bad bad Madman, warrantee invalidated
ohhh, got more problems now! the cradle has been manufactured in such a way that the sprung weight portion is so close to the un-sprung portion, that it happily chatters away without even having the GPS fitted to it, leaving a trail of dark grey dust slowly coming out from between the portions.
Sorta begs the question, if it's touching the unsprung portion, the vibes are still going to get through to the GPS!

I've just ordered mine.
Shall have to see what I think once it's all fitted up. Got the cycle mount coming too, so worst thing is I could always put it on the mountain bike. Mind you, the whole thing came at such a good price that putting the whole thing on fleabay shouldn't lose me too much, if anything.
