Auxillary Lighting

Postby Backmarker » Thu Feb 01, 2007 4:14 pm

Does anyone know of an auxillary light 'bar' or brackets (apart from Motolights) that fit the 'S' - suitable for some fairly big lights (PIAA 525s) ?

Hate being stupid, but hey...
Done a search for Pelican Parts (both here and on google) but dont seem to be able to find anything..
Am I missing something, is it part of this forum? Or is it a stateside forum?

Hi Backmarker,

Click on the "Links" button just below the Boxertrix banner at the top of this page and there you will find a link to Pelican, amongst other places.

You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

Not for more illumination per se, filtering at night in London you would be surprised the number of oncoming cars dont seem to know you exist. Even on my own side of the road I have had people try to drive through me - seem to just drive as close to the stationary traffic on opposite side as possible - anyway, cylinders sticking out as they do means I have had too many near misses. I have found hanging some aux lights further outboard (on my GS) improves matters significantly. Failing that, a second set with 100w bulbs wired to main beam gives a more noticable effect than a standard 'flash' does.

So no, cant see the HID route being any use to me.

switched to an HID last year and I regularly ride home at night. The different cast of an HID is dramatic and with a single headlight I notice that car drivers see me much sooner. Regularly pulling over a bit to let me past, I suspect that they often think it could be a police bike :!:
Mind you neither HID or aux lighting is going to stop someone driving into the back of you, maybe some LED from Nippy Normans could sort the rear problem for you?

Rear: Twin triangular reflectors (caravan) on the jesse panniers, full LEDs (Brake, stop, indicators) plus hyper lights plus twin fogs, and the GIVI LED brake lights.........(bike also runs 2x 16 amber LED running lights on handguards, and I wear a LED vest with circa 20 flashing LEDS as well as the usual reflective tape).

People still claim not to see me.....

We find it easier to pack the Chistmas lights away each year...

Your reply has HID written all over it,ever seen the film 'Moses' and the parting of the red sea, thats what an HID light does, not only clears e'm out the way, does it for a mile up the road,i promise not to say i told you so when you fit one, don't expect to a gain a fan club useing one but it'll shift e'm thats a dead cert.

Yeah, thats exactly want I want. Only the price is somewhat extreme. It doesnt even include the wiring harness.

And they wont ship to the UK.
