Insurance - What do you pay?

Postby Black Knight » Mon Dec 18, 2006 11:43 am

I need to get my baby insured so have been ringing round this morning.
So far

Devitts
MCD
Carole's Gash
CIA
and BMW

I'm 26, bike's garaged, 2 yrs no claims. Best I've got so far is £576 with all the extra's.

I know insurance is different for averyone but is anyone particulally cheap on beemers?

Who do you use and how much?

Thanks

I believe that one of the biggest factors after age is post code.

I have a rural. low-risk post code, I'm over 40, and I have both an R1100S and a R1200S on the insurance through Carole Nash. Cost was £230.

I'm pretty sure they are amongst the cheapest as I have a cheapskate Lancastrian for a wife who will happily send the best part of a week phoning round for the best quote.

Yeah, that time of year for me as well

Renewel quote from Carol Nash came in at about £350 but phoned them up and managed to get it down to £307 :)

Thats FC including breakdown cover, etc on a 2002 BCR with two years NCB.

Tried a couple of others, including BMW Insurance who wanted £575  but CN seemed to be the most competitive.

Like Stevie said, post code is important as well as age.

Good luck

Well im a 'B' grade postcode so thats good.

Tried ebike, got it down to £464 that includes an little 125 suzi i've got too.

Interestingly, changed the start date to Jan.....Saved £50!

Not taken it out yet, gonna see if the 125 will pass an MOT, if not, i'll not bother insuring it, its only worth a couple o hundred anyway. Not insuring it should bring the price down to about £360 inc legal and breakdown :D

Bit better than the £896 I got quoted from BMW!

Carol Nash as well,it's not just the cheapo insurance but all the bits and bobs when you go abroad like medical insurance thats valid on a bike!!

But 2 years no claims!!!,one presumes you've been throwing yourself down the road at some time!!!

Bennetts managed a reasonable £330 for my S. :D

Croydon area, 38 years old and 4 years NCD.

They don't consider my workshop to be a garage so that up's the prem a bit.

Around £90 each for mine and Judes, but it is much cheaper here in France. Did I tell you how much the road tax on both bikes and the car is? £0 as we don't have that here either.
Sorry folks, just had to say it.

Just paid £170 for my brand new bike with Devitt DA (BMW insurance) fully comp, and if I add another BMW it only costs £10.50 for each bike up to 4 bikes.
