My brand new R1200s

I've been thinking about what I'd get when I came to change the 1200GS. Having looked around and done several test rides I came to the conclusion that the GS couldn't be beaten for what I needed. Its just such a good all-rounder. Road bike, tourer, light off-roading and even the odd track day.

I couldn't justify trading it in and spending another 4-5k on having the same but newer so would have gone for an ADV, but then why do I need the extra weight and globe-busting fuel range?

So I've gone for something different.

....and kept the GS for touring and two-upping.

Although it won't be doing much more of that with the S around!

I test rode the S earlier this year and loved it, but would never have had it instead of the GS for the reasons above. As a toy and a bike just for fun its great - It goes like stink! Fantastically smooth engine and gear box! Smooth ride too thanks to the Ohlins...mmmmmmmm!

Thats the perfect pairing in my eyes.

Im a bit behind you, with a 1200s and a highish miles 1150 gs, but the target is a loaded 12gs when i can get there hehe

Nought wrong with an 1150 - cracking bike - I had one for 12 months before the 12GS! When you go for a 12GS check out the user forum for some good 'honest' bikes.

Devil's Bridge today! At this rate it'll be ready for the 600 mile service by Monday!

Is that the Wunderlich stand? Is it easy enough to use without help?

Thats the one - well spotted. It's a bit tricky to use and I reckon I've done my back hoofing it up on it as you're leaning to control the bikes balance while pressing down on the lever at the same time. Its getting easier with practice though.

You can set it so the lever is on the bike side but then it catches the footpeg.

May I suggest replacing the bread-bin under the hump with an Akrapovic exhaust. It costs a lot, but looks good.
