Stainless Steel Brake hoses

Post by ivorbaines »

I'm about to fit the High/Comfort bars to my bike and at the same time replace the standard hoses with Stainless ones, including the rear brake.
Can anyone help out with hose length for this set-up so that I can get them in before I strip down the bike, and also any recommendations for supplier/type.
Thanks

look on pelican parts in the s tech forum as there is a wealth of information, in remarkable detail too :blob6: many there seem to have done it with no reported ill effect

I was warned off of doing it by Paul at Bracken, he used to look after my old r100, who reckons that braided hoses can put too much pressure on the calipers causing them to bend/warp?

I'd be suprised if you damaged your calipers. I've had braided hoses on all my bikes and never had a problem.

Surely its irrelavant of the hoses anyway, more due to the pressure through the lever? Even then, I assuming 1100S brakes are not much different to standard bikes, where would the pistons have room to bend or warp? I doubt the pistons or the capipers would be the first to go anyway.

Be intersting to find out his info on this. Never heard of it before.

Hi I have both braided hoses and risers on my 1100 ss.
I added 15 mm to the lengths suggested by Goodrich with their buildaline system, available from many places. My brakes have bnever been so good. Really easy to fit and gives you a double banjo at the master cylinder so 1 line goes to each of the fron calipers.

Hope this is useful.

Good luck.
I love my R1100S!
