The problem is that the bollards appear to be effectively bypassing the nice crumple zones and bringing the vehicles to a complete halt immediately. I have absolutely no sympathy for the drivers who are stupid enough to go somewhere it's clear they're not meant to be, though someone is going to get seriously injured by these one day.
Maybe the lifting tyre traps like you get in some car parks would have been a better idea.
I've seen these bollards being tested on a program for defence against a lorry laden with explosives and they are amazingly tough - it just crumpled the lorry's chassis and then retracted perfectly for use next time.
