Paul

I'd say the way you view an 800 is how i view my S!!!under a thousand cc,your words mate not mine!!!,plenty of fast bikes under a 1000,,as for small bikes,i've got to go to Portsmouth docks in a weeks time to collect a 600,but then it ain't my only bike.

rule number one never let you heart rule you head on anything
that rules out motorcycling, marriage and children then....

what you have there is a cartesian duality (always wanted to say that on a motorcycle forum)..

Mind/body split innit.

Paul, ride your 800 loud 'n' proud..

my 600 R6 was faster than I could manage comfortably on a twisty road and caned the S in outright performance.

It might get pushed in the dock if i don't!!!

Re head and heart I'm looking for a non abs/esa K1200s it's a bland as dishwater across the frame four, and not pretty to look at,but it's good two up,doesn't try and tear us off the bike at 130 and will get the job done, likeing it doesn't remotely come into it!!!.

I wouldn't worry too much about any perceived performance deficit the 800S may have - in fact up to 100mph I'd say it's pretty damn nippy and off the line easily as quick as an 11S; 85ish bhp in a sub-200kg bike is a better power to weight than an 1150R/GS. Torque figures aren't too shabby either.

Then again, if we could get MZ to shoe-horn their 1000S motor into the F800's chassis. ;)

Bottom line is the F800 is a fantastic bike and loads of fun - you enjoy it Paul. :)

Off up to the West coast of bonny (and probably wet) Scotland this weekend with a mate who has just bought an F8. He loves it, so far! really tractable engine, etc. Previous bike was a Daytona 955i but he was frightening himself to death every time he went out on it ! Final straw was going past the parked up rozzers at 130mph on the A38:shock:

Hopefully I may get a go on it at some time

And.... relax.

Paul
You really need only two tools: WD-40 and duct tape. If it doesn't move and it should, use WD-40. If it moves and shouldn't, use the tape.

The 800 is for girls.... [Puts large wooden spoon back in the drawer]

Paul, I have to say the F8 looks like a great bike and you seem to have all the angles covered with the 'dump it in the spring' plan if it doesn't do the job. It's not unlike a modern K75s and I've had enough of those to know they do everything but pump out large BHP.

Go for it, you'll enjoy it!

Adam :) (With the big cojones and obligatory thou  )
Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.
