Thanks for the reply Richard, now a vr1000 type bike would be something else and the point about the v rod motor certainly makes sense, although I suppose its more to do with image and niche marketing , a bit like BMW's Boxers. Personally I prefer liquid cooling (yes I know oil is a liquid,I mean coolant and oil).
My" problem" is I have a bike heading for 50k miles with dubious value and locally, no trade in value . . The ulysses looks big and has the bonus of 17" wheels and on paper 82ft lbs of torque.
We can always dream :)

Problem with the Revolution motor is that it's just to darn big to stick in a short wheelbase chassis................... I also like to think if I'm riding quickly on it (that being relative of course!) that I've got something to do with it, not the bike doing everything on its own for me. That is somewhat satisfying.
The very same reason that Ducati don't put the water cooled motor in the multistrada.
I have the S with it's stone age engine for the very same reason as you have your H-D it appears :D and the other reason I bought the S over any Japsickle was that the local dealer let me test ride it for a day to get used to it, otherwise I'd probably have been with Archie with my Gixxer parked in the boot of a large saloon car

It's not how fast you ride, it's how you ride fast.

If only H-D made a road-going version of this...(yeah ok they did but it flopped big stylee because your average Hog rider wouldn't touch it with a sh*tty stick)...

:)

Once I'd got my head around it, I found the Ully to be a really fun tool to ride. It is in many ways a similar bike to the S (despite looking very dissimilar) in that a quick spin reveals nothing but cries of 'eh?' from the rider but I'm glad I had the opportunity to re-evaluate it. As a result it's definitely in the top 5 list of bikes I'd own next - and that includes the 1200S btw. I'll let Munich get a year's worth of production out of the way though - well worth having any potential bugs ironed out first. :)

One of the mechs at Thames HD has an XR - it's beautiful. Worth a bloody fortune too.
