How far to go without re-chipping??
If one is considering modifications, pipes/filter/induct etc etc how far would it be feasible to go before it'd be necessary to re-chip the Motronic?
Just bearing in mind that I've fitted a K&N, Motorworks do a Lennie's induct for the R (in much cheaper plastic -hurrah!) and I should be getting the Remus delivered by the end of the week. Clearly the motor will be shifting more air - but what latitude does the Motronic have? The R doesn't run a sniffer - only the German/US models do for the cat.
The same rules would obviously apply to the S.

I've been told by people that tune boxer engines that the engines run very lean in standard set up.
So by allowing the engine to breath and exhaust more easily you are compounding the situation.
I'd definately invest in a chip for peace of mind.
A good test would be to go out for a very spirited ride when you've got the K&N and pipe fitted. Then when you get back check the plugs....you will find the tips are whitish in colour. They should be fawn/tan brown.
I keep telling myself to invest in a chip but just can't bring myself to part with that much cash for something which does very little!
Bailey.

What's the latest thinking on fitting the fuel pressure regulator from the K1200RS ?
Used to be the preferred way of richening the mixture under all conditions. Relatively cheap and would take some pretty in-depth knowledge on the part of a loss adjuster to know anything had been changed!
Haven't seen this mod referenced for a while.

I've had no ill effects so far, but as you say, being a summer time rider I still haven't reached 20k yet I think there are few on the Pelican side that have run the k12 reg and a couple of the Dutchys too. Not heard of anyone whos had any problems directly caused by using it. In fact one of the Pelican boys reported a better dyno graph with the reg than with the chip! Even with the tune up chip you could still run lean as they were designed to be used with the standard intake system, not with an induct, K&N etc.
The polish I use is specially imported

Richard, I've got 54k on mine with Laser, bb chip, k12 reg and lennies induct and I also completely removed the cat sniffer.
When I had just my old Remus system and bb chip I had it dynoed and it was very lean. I would agree with Stempy's comments about the K12 reg. Seat of the pants tells me mine is a little rich at lower revs, but higher up the range it feels spot on, as I spend a lot of time on the motorway this is more important to me.
Cheers
Paul.

The chip is in the motronic gubbins under the tank. Look here for a detailed explanation http://wijhenke.net/
