Rear shock removal

I think there is a bush IIRC it was bloody tight fit!!

The bush was there but it was within the shock 'eye'

i used a heat gun , the hot air type , and had no bother ,
but boys they are tight to get back in.

So, anyone stripped the Torx in the head of the bolt even though they used heat, a Halfords Advanced Torx bit the correct size (which may or may not had snapped in half due to the torque applied)(it did) and a breaker bar?
If so, what did you do next?.....Asking for a friend

Before you go to KAIS, give TWS suspension services in Preston a ring. He did my rear shock for me £140 including VAT. It came back looking like new. I was very happy with the service and could feel a difference afterwards. Just for info he does a ride in ride out set up for £40.

He is also friendly and approachable and loves to chat. All in he comes highly recommended from me.

Well, finally got the bolt out but at a cost. Had to destroy the bottom bracket of the rear Ohlins in the process. Even then I had to cut the bolt in half, screw out the threaded bit, cutting bits off as it touched the 'non captive bit that I had stripped. Once the threaded bit was out, it took a hammer and a bent drift to get the so called loose bit out! Installed a lovely condition Showa supplied by a forum member whilst the Ohlins is serviced and a new bottom bracket obtained. Apparently Colin at 100% Suspension in Coalville says Ohlins are really bad for spare parts at the moment so that might mean a wait. Service of the shock is only £130 so thats good but sitting down for the cost of the bottom bracket.
