I have a few two strokes but this is the one I’m currently using.
Re: 350lc YPVS
I love these beautiful Yamaha 2 strokes !!!
Enjoy yours !!!
I won Hill climb champs on mine in South Africa in 1985.
The standard exhaust pipes were very cleverly made , cut the weld in the middle , open it , remove a single baffle , and reweld , almost perfect expansion box .
Then remove the baffle , and put a tube in , with hundreds of holes drilled in it , and you had a stinger , with just enough silencing to pass the 106 decibels test at 5000 rpm !!!
That was faster than a 1000 cc Suzuki or Honda up to 120 miles per hour , with a few mods to the air box and jetting !!!
I loved that bike , but as always , it was sold to finance the next bike ...

The bike was set up by a guy called Dave Whattam and the pipes are his design with a set of TZ silencers fitted.
It goes really well but has a thirst like Oliver Reed on a stag night !

Like that a lot, lovely bike. A mate had one when they first can out, we all thought it was the best thing ever.
Which it was when you had TS185's and DT175's as your bench mark.
Re: 350lc YPVS
Riding these bikes takes you back to a time when things were more simple. Swapping back wheels with your pal to get through an mot, nicking petrol out of your dads lawnmower etc.
Those of us who know how well the stink wheels go never underestimate them.
I remember when Mat Oxley lapped the TT at 100mph on a 36 bhp TZR 250.

I raced one of those in the Manx GP and at least I finished the race, unlike Oxley, who fell off on the last lap near the end.
Sold the bike to Phil Read straight after the race for his lad to start racing on.

I’d be interested if you decide to sell it I’m thinking of building a hybrid.

Re: 350lc YPVS
Thanks Steve
That last one was my first race in the first ever Newcomers class and held in fog and sleet, they would not start the race now with H&S.
But I'm still chuffed with 7th on an RD 350 against Tz's and RG500's
My fastest ever laps were on a TZ 350, but done in practice - still got the timing slip somewhere. Frame broke in the race and I retired to the pub and didn't have to get my money out!
Those lap speeds listed were the ones set in the race.
Amazing how slow they seem now compared to when you are on the bike doing it and today's lap records.

no sale for mine i'm afraid!

John - my first trip to the Island was the MGP in 1980. I well remember making my way to the Gooseneck with a flask of something hot made by my landlady for morning practise. I'm going to loom out my program and old photos !!!
Re: 350lc YPVS
, I missed the 2-stroke days (coming to bikes in the late 90s). LC's just look right.
Although the Velocity Moto 900LC has turned my head.
Can't post image from work, but looks a great way to spend £9k ish.
