Source of "little 10mm fuel hose clips" or "jubilee" replacements....

I've been cleaning the fuel system out and replacing fuel filters on a couple of bikes at home and both the BMW and a Ducati use the same 10mm stainless "pinch-clips" to secure the fuel lines to the replaceable filters.

I scoured fleabay and amazon for sources of these clips, visited my local Ducati outlet (who didn't even show an in-line filter on their computer for my bike, and subsequently no part nos. for the hose clips), so have drawn a blank.

Hence my question to the community to ask where I can go (other than mail ordering from the States at huge shipping cost), a good supply of these clips and the crimping tool to fit and remove them.

Alternatively - has anyone replaced these with tiny 10mm stainless Jubilee clip? and if so where is a good source for these.

Thanks in advance for any pointers on these little clips that have defeated me for the last couple of weeks (enter banging head against the wall Smiley here)

Cool thanks for the quick link to the 10mm screwclips on ebay! they will certainly work, especially being stainless in the tank perfect - they would certainly do it - I will upload some photos of the clips fitted later in case anyone can ID them

Snap of the Hose clips I found on my phone to illustrate - this is the in-line in-tank pump and filter assembly in my Ducati which was really gummed up in rust and crud on a bike that's covered less than 3k miles from new in 2000) - however the 10mm clips are the same as I have found when replacing the in-tank fuel filter on the R1100S - they actually use the same model of fuel filter which I think is quote common.

I recall the originals are referred to in the US mainly as PEX fasteners. However the stainless PEX and tools seem to be really expensive for what they are and most have to be imported. There must be loads of bike shops tooled up to deal with these but I was surprised they don't seem to be on ebay in the UK and I struggled to find the tool too.

Those single use crimp / clips are pretty common. You can find them on ebay. Cromwell tools do them and will also sell you a crimping tool.

Personally, I would avoid the worm drive type. The O clips / crimps have a bevelled edge to prevent cutting into the hose.

Do a search on single ear O clips.

Thanks Jim - I will (and I love your description of the "Colgate R1200" I test rode one and its a distinctive machine in red and white and the R1200S was never fully appreciated and is a great ride (I'd still like an R1200HP2 though - although i would happily live with a replica in motorsports colours based on the R1200S - someone must have one - but they are all relatively rare bikes these days I guess

'Colgate' is not my invention. It was how I saw them referred to when I bought the bike back in 2008. The North Americans often call them 'Candy Canes' in the red and silver colour scheme.

I have seen a few 1200s in Motorsport colours. Some have been executed better then others. I always preferred the yellow, but I don't think I would change now. The red and silver certainly stands out. They are rare, you would be surprised how many people think it is a brand new model until they see the 06 plate.

We used the same clips on the old VW's - google 111 127 537 A (with or without spaces) or ask for them at your local VW specialist - they secured the fuel filter on any of the old carburetor cars.

They have an insert to bridge the gap so you get even pressure and they don't cut into the hose.
You crimp them with a CV boot band crimping tool. They need to be matched quite closely to the hose outer diameter which will be significantly larger than 10mm on a bmw.
You can also use the screw type fuel injection rated clamps(with the bridging sleeve), but NOT the worm type clamps which can cut the fuel hose

This is particularly important on a BMW where all the clamps are after the fuel pump and hence subject to full pressure.
It is important that any hose you use is rated for fuel immersion as well as pressure

Thanks very much all of you - some good leads there - I will get some ordered up and I will change my fuel filters next weekend now after I've got my hands on some and possibly a decent crimping tool. As I have three bikes that I know of that all use them - its worth stocking up.

I notice the Mikalor ones are stainless insert with steel outer - is that normal or does anyone do them in full stainless like the lesser used PEX clip which appears to be full stainless? Just concerned to keep possibility of rust in the tank to an absolute minimum. I was surprised how clean my BMW tank was inside when I drained it to change the filter (alhtough to be fair it was only flushed 18months ago when my injectors clogged the first time when they went away for cleaning) and it did one trip to Germany and back since. My y2k Ducati on the other hand (although its a plastic tank on the MH900E) the pump body inside was covered in rust and gunk and needed a decent clean-up, and that's only ever done a few local trips up and down the North Kent Coast all its life.
