Header Stud : length

Post by RonB58 »

Hiya,
Have broken all 4 header studs when I tried to remove the exhausts.

Already have one tapped out and sorted but could someone tell me how long the studs are and how deep the thread penetrates into the head? Or if someone knows the total stud length then could subtract and amount that goes into the header, allowing for the exhaust gasket thicknwess.

I dont want to drill too deep! I think I'm in about 20mm for the first one.

Thanks,

Ron

It might pay to buy a stud to get the overall length - If you do I can measure whats sticking out the head on my BCR

According to the parts diagram the studs are m8 x 40 and they appear to be shouldered. If you need an exact measurement off whats sticking out of the head let me know

Why not just offer up a broken end to a snapped stub and measure it?
