Dont ask why, but, i have been looking at the older pages in boxer tech currently page 34 of 89 querys from 2010.

So armed with various bits n pieces of info have been done garage to check on my new baby.

I have the much spoke about "Y" piece instead of the "cat".

I have discovered mine is a sport model as I have a yellow shock.

Am wondering what else stuff may be on my bike that I wont know about?

Oh yeh and thanks to Mitch1100 I now know where my gearbox is to change the oil.

Have had the bike 2 weeks 3 days now have done just 100 miles and my fuel light has not come on

Looking forward to what else i shall discover.........

If its got the cat on, then its a good bet its standard throughout.

Neil178, no cat, looks like the infamous "Y" piece, god knows what make it is?
Previous bike was a ZRX1200R, didnt click with it at all, loved the power but lost all confidence when coming to a corner. I know I've only done 100 miles on the S, but so much more confidence in the bike. Hard to put into words but feel like, rather than perched on the bike fighting it all the way,I feel part of the bike

Took a mates V-MAX for mot last week, awful riding position,absolutely hated it, glad mot place was only 4 miles away, back on the bm and wow perfect riding position.

I had the ZRX for 2 years, before that I had a RRV blade, awesum bike, had it from new, but sold it as got cramp everytime I rode it.

So loving the 1100S, looking forward to better weather to put some miles on it and finding out more about it

Yellow shock means if you fit a centre stand the tyre will still be on the floor. Just in case you are thinking about it. Both of mine have yellow shocks and I have extended the foot of the stand by 10-12mm to compensate.

Is your bike ABS or non-ABS? If it's non-abs you can fit an extended range fuel tank that'll get you past 200 miles range. I hated that fuel light coming on so early.

If you think your bike is tappety but the valve clearances are correct adjust the rocker arm end float. They get quite noisy if the gap is too wide.

Sounds like a big drop in bhp, but an increase in smiles.
The telelever thingy at the front may be why you have more confidence now in corners. Far less dive. Wish i knew how it worked!
I still have my bars underneath and it still suits me. I have yet to try them in the above position. My legs though are all bunched up so im about the get the Motorworks lowering kit. Think it's a 2" drop in old money.
Im looking to get the bike comfy enough for a camping trip to the south of France.
Some guys on here with big knowledge on these bikes so ask away!

Non abs and I wondered why it did not have a center stand.
I presume the only way to get rear rear off ground is an abba stand, or is it abby?
Have not seen a rear padock stand for one.

The previous owner parked it on a plank of wood. BMW's fix for no centre stand was to leave out the wheel brace from the toolkit. I guess they thought that someone would be silly enough to try to remove the wheel on the sidestand

Have you found your puncture repair kit under the seat yet?

Boxerdesign do a stand available from Motorworks but they're not cheap!! I can vouch that they are however, very sturdy. If yours has GS front end and shorter back end you need to mention it or the back wheel will not clear the ground. Abba stand is cheaper

No, havent found punture kit, I've found a tool kit though

The red white and blue Boxercups had the forks from a GS on to heighten it (so I was told). The punture repait kit is further forward than the tool kit - 2 rubber bungs - turn them and lift the cover. Hope that helps
