Wanted - R1200S tools / Ohlins adjusters
Hi, just got an R1200S but unfortunately it's missing the tools and the adjusters/C-spanners for the Ohlins suspension.
Does anyone having these lying about that they could possibly part with?
Thanks Victor

If you run out of options, they can still be sourced from BMW, see http://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/showparts?id=0366-EUR-08-2006-K29-BMW-R_1200_S_0366,0396_&diagId=71_0440 . The open ring-spanner #7 is real useful for strut height adjustment, in situ.
I ultimately sourced a better (narrower) C spanner from my local Ohilns agent. It allows better access between the rear canister, for adjustment.

I'm only missing one now, I think it has no 3 on the drawing, the one with 3 teeth. I checked with BMW /and it was over £20 which is ludicrous considering Ohlins themselves asks £5 or so. Unfortunately Ohlins doesn't stock this particular one and considering one of the adjustment rings is made of plastic you probably better have the proper one

Yeah the plastic adjusting ring eventually wouldn't hold on mine (notorious!) & i removed the strut to get it replaced with a genuine ohlins metal adjusting ring while also getting the strut serviced (34k kms). I found the BMW adjusting spanner for the rear was a PIA, but can recommend the narrower Ohlins one i got from my local agent. Cheers!

PIA? Do you have a part number for the spare you got and was it for the rear?
And WTF where they thinking with a lockring made of cheese?

PIA reads 'Pain-in-the-Arse' No parts numbers [but my rear strut is BM4433 (121172) (7 694 901)], all taken care of by Ohlins agent. Ohlins C spanner wasn't cheap at A$40, Alloy Lock Rings A$20 ea but full strip/rebuild back to spec (new seal/s, oil, gas) was resonable imo at approx A$180. Good luck!

Re: Wanted - R1200S tools / Ohlins adjusters
btw, i asked the same WTF quetion of the plastic lock ring with the local Ohlins agent. He believed it was likely utilised to avoid binding which can occur with two metal rings. Pitty it wasn't more durable! Like everyone else whose come before us, I was happy to take the risk on binding Cheers!

$40!? When I spoke to them (however in Sweden) Their spanners were around £6 or so...
Is the three prong spanner really necessary or is a 2 prong version equally good...?

Re: Wanted - R1200S tools / Ohlins adjusters
The OEM supplied c spanners are physically different sizes, larger (3 lug) for the rear and smaller (2 lug) for the front. My OEM spanner for the rear is branded BMW (& part no). My OEM spanner for the front (Euro model - no carbon canister to negotiate) is branded Ohlins. My additional (narrower) spanner sourced from Ohlins (branded Ohlins) for the rear only has 2 lugs. Personally i'm happy to have both rear spanners to help with locking unlocking and any binding that may occur with the adjusting rings.
