Why not just repair it? If its just the seals then its a cheap and easy job to do. If the chrome damper rods pitted, then its proberbly not economical to do.
These guys have provided seals for GSXR dampers I had fitted to my old Kwak ZRX1100 (that was a bike that really needed a damper).

Without looking at my BCR damper, IRRC it has a circlip that can be removed, old seals prised out and new ones fitted. When there is no refill screw, you can refill by assembling it submerged in a bath of appropiate weight fork oil.

Does anyone know roughly how much the OEM one is to replace.
Also does anyone know suitable models of Ohlin's units that can be used
(reason I ask is I have a spare I got with my Honda SP-1, and I'm just wondering if anyone has fitted an Ohlin's steering damper in place of the BMW unit)?

Thanks
Matthew

I think you maybe right, I've not nipped out to the garage to check mine but from what I recall it seems similar to this one which is a K1200S one

if it fits and works well with it - that's got to be worth a try - thanks.
I've got two BoxerCups - one set up for touring and one for shorter 'spirited' weekend rides - The second bike is the one I know needs a new damper. I've not really missed it since realising it was completely useless/worn out, but I guess you never know if/when it has saved a highside or wobble.

Nice , but I think he takes a few chances on the mountain , the bends are fast , he's on the other side of the road , and cars and bikes go fast the "wrong" way too ....

This years Manx GP , head on collision between 2 bikes up near the Veranda , 2 fatalities , and the road closed for 2 days to repair the damage caused by the fire ....

Nice footage though , and impressive to see him using the revs .

Last year I got a clear run once , up the mountain mile and saw over 130 mph , before I settled to a safer 100 / 90 run the rest of the mountain .

It's one way on the mountain on Mad Sunday tho' isn't it, or has that changed since I last went?

I think the IoM cops are trying to stop it ....

They are overwhelmed with accidents and injuries ....

From what the CoC told me at a recent meeting , when we were chatting about the additional things a race organiser there has to take into consideration.

The main thing about the Mad Sunday Carnage was that it took up so many hospital beds, and before they are allowed to start a race, Nobles has to have 20 beds available ... for in case ....

A few years ago , a school bus accident delayed the race for several hours , not because of the accident , it was near Castletown , it was the hospital could'nt cope until they'd farmed out the lightly injured , either home or to other hospitals ...

The cops are dead set against the Mad Sunday mayhem as well .
