help me find a pub in Wales?

Post by Herb »

My fellow trixters have never failed me yet. Pint of Stowford for the winner.

Back in 1990 I camped in the garden of a pub when visiting the Builth Wells show ground for the bike show. The pub was way out in the sticks, but no more than 30 minutes from Builth.

I was sure it was called the Haford Inn, or perhaps the Hafod Inn, but I can find no record.

My mates and I had the worst and wettest weekend of our lives there and for reasons inexplicable we want to go back.

Any one know if this place is still trading? Has it been renamed? Did I dream it in a Blackthorn Cider induced haze?

There's a Haford Inn/Hotel at Devils Bridge, but you'd have to be riding very rapidly for that to be 30 mins away!

Definitely not the one at Devils Bridge. I suspect it's no longer a pub as I can't find anything in the Builth vicinity that matches what I remember.

There was a Hafod Bridge Inn near LLanwrda, which is about 30 miles from Builth Wells, but it closed down ages ago.

I think that might be the one. It's now a holiday let, so I will look into it a bit more. Well done that man.
