R1100S headlight needed. :)

Postby HerrFlick » Sat Mar 28, 2015 3:40 am

Hi all.

Does anyone know where I can get a 2nd hand unit?

I've found one in the US but it's as dear as poison. and the exchange rate isn't helping either. :(

Why do I need one? 'Cos I broke the one I have ... by ... trying to unseal it to clean the inside of the glass. Actually it cracked and one half came free in my hand. "I know. I'll use some glass repair epoxy to mend it :)" And in the process of doing that, Old Butterfingers dropped it didn't he, and it broke a lot more; a great deal more, as it happens, and all the resin in the world wasn't going to help one little bit. Grrrrrr.

Cheers.

I'm looking for one myself. Mine has taken a hit from a stone and knocked a bit off from the inside. Like hens teeth. Over £300 from the stealer.

Would you still have the glass?

Motorworks might be worth a try? They list them at £160, but you have to phone to check stock.

Thinking about this US unit for a moment: how much difference in low beam pattern is there between bikes used on LHD roads and RHD roads?

Last night I could see some LH throw on low beam, but what happens in the UK / Europe where there is a mix of these bikes on the roads?

Thanks for all the assistance.

Both headlights at english speaking wreckers disappeared in a flash. Grrrr.

Viola! What about non-english speaking wreckers? Started with Ebay.de, and found a picture of one. Abt 300 Euros. Choke wheeze gasp. Plus shipping, came to abt AU$500 (since our currency now resembles that of a banana republic).

Decide to buy, but everything is in German. Hmmm.

Viola! Google Translate. So away I went with Translate in one window and Ebay.de in the other, even for PayPal. LOL.

Worked perfectly. Delivery (from Holland) expected in week of 14th of April.

Now I just have to avoid Mr Plod, but this foil should help:
