I may be wrong Al but I think Kork Ballington only did GP's, can't remember him in the Transatlantic series.
Might be thinking of Yvon DuHamel......

Hi all
Got back last night from Brno.
What a track!
Very fast and long at nearly 5.4 km. elevation changes , off camber corners, bumps etc etc. very challenging!
It was bloody hot, 30-35 c.
Had 2 practice sessions then qualifying.
Last boxer and 22 on grid at the rear .
Race didn't go well. Had a fare few moments trying to hang with the other guys. Bike jumped out of gear into a downhill fast corner, just managed to stay on. The heat was affecting my concentration towards the end. So I eased off and got the bike home.
Shower,cold beers and food.
Next day was better. Had a good nights rest and got my head together for practice. Done as many laps as I could and tried lots of different lines and gears for corners.
Qualified in same place for race.
I did one more practice session before race and tried some new things, felt better and was faster.
Race 2 was great. Got a good start and made up some places into first corner which is a fast one. A super mono bike went in crazy fast past me and through the middle of the pack. He went down in front of me , his bike just missing me and a few other riders. Got my head down and had a great race between 2 other boxer racers. Swapping places 2 or 3 times a lap. A couple of other riders crashed out so a podium was on the cards for one of us. I had a plan for the last couple of corners where I could get past as I had better corner speed and drive but was lacking on the brakes. Last lap, going up horsepower hill I was getting in position to make my move, then bang and the bike lost power. Pulled in clutch and hit kill switch. Right leg/bike covered in oil. Last lap and second to last corner from the end the engine had thrown a rod through the engine case. Oh well!! That's racing. The bikes get a hard time. Throttle on the stop for a long time. I beat my previous best lap time by 6 seconds which was great.
I will post some photos and when I get a chance.
All the best
Gus

Sounds like a great event Gus, all bar the last bit still if you are still smiling and have such enthusiasm after your bike broke good on you. I suspect that some engine work or some such is underway as I type this, and if your gonna proceed then the Boxercup people must be the best place to be.
Take care m8, maybe see you sometime soon
