what up with the front shock?
Ty
Hi Ty
Thankyou.
The front shock starts to fade when it gets hot . I start to notice this about 2/3 through a session/race. Also there is no provision for compression damping adjustment. I will source another shock or get the standard one modified.
All the best
Gus
hey Gus, sounds like it's the stock Ohlins; speak to the guys at K-tech as they're probably the best folks to help,

it may just help to re.valve it without the need for a shock. or even Ohlins UK.

how does it feel on the brakes in general, is it sitting up (I know the front end doesnt help to define the feeling) or do you get the impression it could do with more support? have a think.
But I imagine the standard road valving is getting a bit overworked on the circuit. I'll drop the guys at Andreani a mail see if they have any thoughts.

Hi Ty
It is the standard ohlins front.
I may try and source a HP 2 unit.
It is ok on the brakes , stable and I,m able to trail brake into corners well. It's later in the race when I release the brake in the corner, it unsettles the bike. It doesn't do this early in the race. It is getting overworked and hot, losing its damping qualities. It's not a huge amount, but enough to make me lose confidence in the front.

As a fellow speccy I particularly like the Kork Ballington/Paul Lewis look.
Who can forget Paul Lewis on the Guzzi racing against the Brittens in the BEARS series at Brands HAtch

Hey Gus, yep, sounds like the stock OE Ohlins ain't too happy; My guess is that the rebound is giving up after a few laps, and it's getting overworked coming off the brakes. Just a thought, when was the last time it was serviced? Ohlins reckon on a service every 12 months, so it may be that with an oil change and a bit of a re-think on the valving it should be ok.
I'd go down that road matey before you shell out for a new unit. It's something I see a lot the oil in the damper is probably mushed matey.

Not to mention the rest of us would love to see it.[/quote
Hi
No camera. I have a GPS laptimer which provides me with all the information I can use at present.
All the best

Hi Ty
Yes, my thoughts too. Shocks have 8000 road miles and as you say, will be needing a refresh. Would still like to add a upgrade for compression adjustment. Thanks for your help and emails.

Hi gus
I have sort of the same problem on the 11S when coming of the brakes while trail braking. I just let the lever out a bit more gently to stop that pogo effect you feel when leaning the bike over. Not that it matter much on track days but when racing you don't want to worry about it. MCT have done some work of Damien's bike and since they do alterations on Ohlins products it might be worth having a chat with them.
