I am a solutely delighted with your race results. Very good for a first time and it means you are fast. What was the lap time difference between 4th and 3rd speaking of the r1200 class. You should give us some more details. Did you have a good scrap and where did you qualify?

As a fellow speccy I particularly like the Kork Ballington/Paul Lewis look.
Kork Ballington! That takes me back (Transatlantic Challenge?).
Also Peter Williams.

I may be wrong Al but I think Kork Ballington only did GP's, can't remember him in the Transatlantic series.
Might be thinking of Yvon DuHamel......

Hi all
Thanks for all the comments, even the speccy ones
First race
Qualified in 11 th place in boxercup(5th r1200s)
Time 1.54.872
Race finish 11 th place in boxercup(4th r 1200s )
Fastest lap 1.49.588 (third place r1200s did a 1.43.598, fifth place r1200s did a 1.51.938)
A good race. I got a good start and got into a dice with a HP2s. Got past him but was re overtaken 2 laps further in. He finished a couple of seconds in front of me. Pretty hectic race with other class of bikes. The super monos carry so much corner speed and use totally different lines to boxers. Had to adjust my lines to stop valve covers grinding the track away. Lost the front a few times due to this. Solved by moving forks through bottom yoke and adding more ride height in rear. I was well chuffed with my best race time compared to qualifying.
Race 2
Qualified in 10th place boxercup(4th r1200s)
Time 1.52.395
Race finish 9th place boxercup(4th r1200s)
Time 1.50.225(third place 1.50.613 fifth place 1.50.116)
Another great race. We didn't get as much practice as the previous day. It was wet in the morning, not enough for rain tyres though. We waited for it to dry out, which it did by about noon. The track was very dirty, there was a big crash in the super sport race the day before and a fare bit of oil and fluids was spread around the track. It took awhile for the track to get clean. Had another good start and got my head down. I got into third place (r 1200s) and gained a few seconds lead over fourth. Then a KTM 1290 blew its engine in front of me causing the oil flags to come out. I slowed down looking for any oil on track. Fourth place man came past me and took third. Doh!!! I gave chase and caught him on the last lap, I was on his back wheel as we crossed the line. Oh well.
I,m pleased with my progress as this is my first time racing. The last time I did a trackday was 8 years ago. So not too bad. The top guys are still miles ahead of me regarding times. Top time boxercup 1.37.852. Top time r1200s 1.39.298. My goal is to get closer to the top 3 r1200s guys.
Next round is Brno which is a wide and fast track. Looking forward to it.
Bike was great. Got it handling really well . The grip from the slicks is amazing. Shows up any flaws with suspension though. I need to address the front shock at some point as it seems the weak spot, apart from the rider that is!!
All the best
