I have been with green flag for several years, no real issues and have always had help when they said I would, but you do have to keep an eye on them at renewal time as its not always what is available to new customers, I have my motorhome as main vehicle( with european cover) as that tends to be the only one that goes abroard and personal cover for both of us which covers everything else, I can change the main vehicle, say if I wanted to take the MR2 or bike abroard, they do 10% discount if you don`t use the service for 12 months. I pay just over £220, and probably do 25,000 miles with all 5 vehicles in a year, so seems ok to me and they were priced a bit less than most others.

I have the RAC full monty package that costs me nowt via Tesco vouchers covers both me and Julie for any vehicle either as driver/rider or passenger, and beats the AA 'cos they don't "relay" you to your destination, they just take you straight there.
only had cause to call them once, but was very happy with their response time

Why pay more?
Reading reviews the only issues seem to be response times, which is down to the local operators they use.
The serpentine belt broke on my Saab at work the other week, and the recovery vehicle was there very quickly, very efficient service.
The set up is that you pay for the recovery and then claim your money back. It covers whatever you're driving (or riding) and your spouse also gets free cover. Not bad for £39 a year.

Just got a pretty comprehensive breakdown policy with my car insurance at renewal - added £29, I think. Also have a 'Drive 24-7' policy I took out to cover the bike last summer before a trip to France. 1yr of UK and EU cover, transferable between vehicles up to 4 times a year without penalty. The vehicle is covered no matter who's in it. £50. Pretty good, I thought.

Until this year - I've maintained the BMW cover on my GSA, but they have now separated the warranty from the breakdown cover, and hoofed up the combined cost to a figure that is hard to justify........
I've AA for the UK, and Carole Nash for abroad.
