CARBON COATING - ANYONE DONE THIS?

Post by Blackal »

I'm thinking about getting a pair of Boxer Cam Covers carbon-fibre coated.

Anyone had this done?

I'm looking at this company: HYDRO-GRAFFIX

http://www.hydro-graffix.co.uk/

Anyone used them, or recommend anyone else?

Thanks!

Al :)

Hello,

I remember an episode of "Wheeler Dealers" where the presenter had some parts covered but can't remember if it was "Wrapped" or "Dipped". FWIW the results were very good. As I live in Kent I might well have a chat to this company as I would like to get the rear panels on my R1200S finished in Carbon effect as a pair made from CF from the USA on eBay will set me back around £300 plus the UK taxes.

They must be a good bit cheaper than that I would have thought. I'll report back if anything interesting comes of it.

Best regards,

David

Looks very interesting that - thanks Al. If you do get it done, let us know the details.

Thanks for the info - Someone on another site mentioned "Wheeler" too.

I've sent off a mail asking for a quote - expect it to be around £120 for the pair (he says - hopefully  )

Otherwise - it'll be satin-black powdercoat :)

The 'Wheeler Dealer' one was a carbon effect vinyl wrap on a mini, It did look good and was a lot cheaper than a total respray. 8)

Eyore - they look good!

Maybe those carbon covers, on home-painted (satin black) covers would be a better option.

Any idea who on Ebay?

Thanks!

EDIT] - just seen them - £137 delivered!!!!

Hello,

They are listed as "R&G Carbon Engine Case Slider" and are available at £64.95 each from the user "racing-products" and others.

I had a pair on mine but couldn't get the additional guards to fit over them like Eyore has.

I have since changed them for the all enclosing Ilmberger carbon covers. However once the slider type ones are fitted they don't come off easily (like in one piece) and do leave a stubborn residue!

Best regards,

David
