Dya know I don't mind paying a slight premium to have something immediately For example, Maplins charge quite a bit more for geekabilia than I can get it online from either the UK or direct from China.
But sometimes I don't mind paying a bit more for the convenience of having it "now". However, what busts my chops is not the shops but the councils and their parking facilities/costs to go and collect the said item. To me one of the main killers of the high streets is the greed of the local councils in overcharging for parking (or allowing the parking companies to do so) and not providing sufficient parking anyway. It just makes going into town a miserable experience at times.
A few years ago, there was an area that had been used for casual motorbike parking since before I was born, then the council gave the parking provision over to Eurocarparks or whatever. They immediatly stopped bike parking there, and gave me a £60 ticket because I chained my motorbike to an empty rank of cycle bays. So I sort of get just brassed off with town centres now as they just make it unpleasant, and as far a visitor in a new town God knows how they cope finding parking at times.

Think the next is about £250ish for all fluids changing. want to keep the warranty up, and I need a curtasy bike, which is why I'm still going to the main dealer. + they are 10mins away from my work.
I was quoted £300+ to repace all the brake pads as they are 70/80% worn! £150 for the set (brembo) from motorworks.... think I'll do that my self!
Just cable tie the pad warning thingies out the way Steve, I put EBC's in the front and rear of mine, however the OEM has sintered front and fibre rear, the EBC's upset the linked brake balance a bit so I've got an oem set for the rear and will put ebc's in the front again.
EBC did design and make replacement pad wear warning wires for the K's, they even have an EBC part number but BMW threatened to sue them if they were released :S so only the pads can be supplied by EBC not the wear cables !
Do the "sensor" bits just pull off of the pad? I was under the impression you couldn't just unplug them as you'd get a warning light? Do they make a conecton when the pads wear, or brake one?
(Sorry for highjacking the thread slightly! and for all the questions!)

They slot into a ... slot.... on the pads and are a loop of soft metal, when worn the soft metal on the sensor gets scrubbed off and breaks the circuit then the warning light comes on

Change through anger, silent revolution,
It's a nice idea, but sadly society has been dumbed down too much by these giants.
I never use supermarkets BTW

Just got the BCR back from local independent (ex BMW senior technician). He replaced the three seals on the back of the transmission and it cost me £245 - I know the seals aren't expensive but there is the time stripping the back end of the bike so I was happy with the price

Al, I'm saying he is but may have just got muddled up with some other paperwork I've been sifting thru. As my bike is now 9 years old and a keeper, I'm not bothered in dealer service history and if I do go ahead next year and get a GS it won't be from my local dealer so the BCR will go to the independent guy and the new bike will go to whoever I decide to give my hard earned to
