Try Makers Mark, A classy Bourbon.

Johnny Walker Green is pretty nice too.

As a sweeping generalisation Irish whiskeys tend to be very smooth.

As a general rule.

Bourbon - Distilled once

Scotch - Distilled Twice

Irish Whisky - Distilled thrice.

An Irishman did tell me that so it may be Pish, but they are generally pretty smooth.

Might look for a bottle of Jamesons 1780. Yum!

Mr. Spock is my role model so be advised; I possess no (discernible) sense of humour.

It's all VFR (DCT) round here now. STILL missing my 1100s tho.

Tullibardine!....

Steve, I used to make an effort to try as many different ones as possible, lost days out of my life.... [smilie=drinking.gif]

This is by a long way the best, for me anyway, smooth is not the word, its as if angels are dancing on your pallet!...too much?

Anyway, absolutley beautifull stuff, the only one I would buy a bottle of these days, if i could afford it. That said if your up there visiting there are places that will sell you a dram or two.

I only drink wisky, don't like any other drinks really (but will if I have to), but I can only drink Jack Daniels straight (with ice).

I've tried to drink a few but have the same issue, its not smooth enough to enjoy drinking it....

Bells is fire water! Avoid!

I got some Glenmorangie as a present, smelling it was enough to put me off, never mind the harshness of it :( that's single malt though.

I think a wisky tour is definatly in order! (Probably not the best idea for riding!)

Look out for:
Glenlivet
Glenmorangie
Isle Of Jura

Avoid:
Laphroaig
Talisker

If you like the taste of TCP reverse the above

I'll second that but would add Arbelour to the smooth list along with any Speyside whisky.
And yes, irish whiskey is triple distilled ( bushmills for me)

Oh and Jack Daniels is so bad you have to put coke in it to make it remotely palatable

And there's nothing wrong with adding a drop of water to a single malt, it really brings out the flavour!

And Julie bought me a gift pack of Penderyn from Chirk castle at the weekend......I love my wife :D

I tried whisky once! It made me pull a really weird face and my facial muscles took about 3 days to recover.

I'll stick to Stowford thank you very much!

Buy yourself a bottle of XO Calvados.............

Sip it neat.

I love my malt whiskies, but laterly - find that they can give me hearburn.

Calvados is lush :D

agreed Al, Calvados and good cognacs are lovely :) ... and I find the mark of a good spirit, to me anyway, is that I want to drink it neat.
