Hi Steve,
Don't think anything is planned this year, Part of the reason I decided to run a yorkshire bash in July.

Peter.

mmm... :? ... you know about the definition of a Yorkshireman using a Scot as a basis..

.. it's always good to be introduced to somewhere different.

Not much in the way of good roads, though.........

Road along the north coast (into Sutherland) and down to Ullapool is good - otherwise............. it is a barren landscape with no need to ever build roads with bends.

See if that works .....

Al, I'm sure you clip Caithness when you head north of Dingwall into gods country.

Last year we went from Aberdeen to Oban in one day via Applecross, the Oyster Inn in Connel was a super stop over.

There is lots of potential in THE most beautiful part of the biking world for an up and down loop.

Certainly after experiencing, in Jenny's car towing a boat FAST, driving the north loop from Ullapool to Durness was hairy, and will be fun on a bike.

Up there has lots of potential.

Maybe a long ride to the meet by our own routes, fodder, then consume vast amounts of vessels of lubrication and lots of Boxerbollox? A social event

If it's any help to the group..... for perhaps Scottish Weekend 2014

A few of us have a weekend in Scotland every August Bank Holiday

We stay at a fairly average 70's style hotel near Erskine bridge Glasgow on the way up. However, it would make a great base to ride out from I guess as it's close to the motorway network for visitors to get to and its on the doorstep to some great scenery up to Fort William past Loch Lomond and maybe loop down to Oban, Inverarry and back?

The other fantastic advantage is the rooms are about 22 to 25 quid per person per night including a stuff yourself senseless hot buffet breakfast .... and guests have free use of the steam room, jacuzzi and swimming pool, which is a great way to unwind after a day on the bike.

So think we could have two nights B&B away for possibly £44 to £50 total, has to be a bargain doesn't it? As well as the leisure facilities it also has a bar and a restaurant.

I'm sure they'd be happy for a large group book, if there's interest would you like me to approach them?

Just checked and it's just 1 hour further north than Moffatt according to Google Maps.

This year for us is pretty well planned, but I've no objection to starting planning 2014.

I think it's a legal requirement nowadays.

It has a great swimming pool etc, nice bar with bar snacks and a restaurant for more formal meals.

Some of the landings decor is still a work in progress but it's always done us proud as a first and last stop of point especially at 22 to 25 quid a night
