RealRider App - emergency location & other useful stuff

Postby Bikerhoss » Sun Mar 10, 2013 10:53 pm

Guys, Forgot about this until I spoke to the developers at the Scottish bike show this weekend,
It looks easy to use for technophobes like me who don't like Facebook and lots of adverts,
It's better explained on the website itself, but it does the social discussion thing, it's main features are real time ride reports, routes, and an amazing emergency accident function that will contact the ambulance etc if you don't respond when you suddenly come to a halt whilst riding. Most importantly it passes your exact location (well, your phone's location anyway)!

Apparently Yamaha and BMW have signed up to promote it, as well as Michael Dunlop who will use it at the TT and for his practice until then.

For those worried about tracking, it DOESN'T have a speed tracking function, deliberately so, and they have no intention of including one in the future 8)

:!: If you sign up before it goes live, you'll get the app for free on launch day, You only have until Tuesday though :!:

Ironically, for a company selling a smartphone app... Their website crashed Safari on the iPad so badly, I had to hard reset it...

Not sure I want their app on my only form of communication in an emergency.

Strange, only ever used it on our iPad with Safari and never had a problem :?:
I admit I am no software expert, but would an app not be different from a webpage in any case?
This is a Beta version (whatever the feck that means) and they have a feedback facility so they can get rid of bugs to improve things, so why not drop them a line with any problems you find.

I signed up for this a while back. I wonder when I'll see the free app.

The developers said that all those who've signed up will get an email once it goes 'live', I suppose it'll have a link or voucher or some such like for the app itself.
