First decent day's weather yesterday, so I thought I'd ride into work. Roll the 11S out and thumb the . Oh dear, this is not good.Battery needs a charge.
Left the bike on the charger overnight and try again this morning. Plenty of cranking but still no go.
Time to make use of that RAC membership. "Hmm," the RAC bloke says, " I reckon you've flooded it. I'll pull the fuse for the fuel pump to check that." We then had to work out how to remove the fairing panel and access the relay. Once decided that I had indeed flooded it by pumping petrol in the motor while the battery was struggling he says I'll get the plugs out and try and let it dry out. At which point he gives up when he realizes he doesn't have the 'right' socket.
Bike has now gone of to the local independent to be dried out and have new plugs fitted.

Lesson learnt always put the charger on when leaving the bike for any length of time.

If it has the original tool kit under the seat......the correct plug spanner is in there! Might be worth a check for...........ahem, next time

Thanks for that, useful to know. As it was I had to get the Haynes manual out to help the RAC guy get the bodywork off to disconnect the fuel pump.

In further news it now seems the battery needs replacing too! Still it saves me the hassle of stripping the bike down to do it. Always look on the bright side...

If you're replacing the battery, get an Odyssey battery as they're miles better than any other brands as anyone here will tell you. There are 2 options for the 1100s depending if it's got ABS/heated grips etc. Might be worth a check, but I think the one you need will be the PC680 if it has ABS etc or a PC535 if it hasn't.
The only difference between a standard plug spanner and the BMW toolkit one is that the one in the toolkit has a very thin wall to fit down the recess in the head.
At least you can get it sorted while the weather is so s**t
