Cruel Bono

I was reminded of this gem last night. I like to think it happened...

U2 on tour in the 90s - Bono's ego at its most inflated. In the middle of a gig at Glasgow Barrowlands (?sp), he stops to do his political posturing bit which, as usual, pisses those off who've paid well to hear U2 play live music. Bono stands under a spotlight and claps his hands together every 3 seconds or so. "Every time I clap my hands....somewhere in the world......a child dies.....", he says in a theatrical manner. A silent pause, then a single voice in the audience can be clearly heard to shout, " Well, stop clappin' then, ya evil bastart!"

:D

reminds me of a joke I read in The Sun (I didn't buy it!!) - whats the difference between God and Bono - God doesn't go around the world pretending to be Bono

Elbow - now THAT'S a band. Saw them live at Glastonbury last year on a schorchio afternoon/evening. Great music, great show and a brilliant atmosphere - the box of cab sav in my rucksack probably helped with the latter, mind :D Also love the fact that Guy Garvey is the antipathy of rock'n'roll: tubby bearded bloke in his late 30s, wearing jeans, plain collared shirt and a cardy. Singing songs and telling stories here and there - no cussing, no attitude, no ego. R-E-S-T-E-C-P, as Ali G. would say... :headbang: :headbang:

Err, it would seem that I've wandered off topic
