Welcome on board, Steve. An engine oil thread as your first post, eh? Good luck! Be prepared for a variety of answers - choose one to suit your budget.....

Me? I'm in the cheapskate camp. It's an old lazy engine so I don't think it needs any expensive synthetic malarkey - just stick close to what the manufacturer recommended when they made the thing. Of course, others opinions may vary.......

Hi

Thanks for the advice ... Ive posted as a NEW BLOKE so hopefully I might get a chance of catching up with some of you for a chat about the bike pro's and cons... a good 20/50 mineral then... do they still do GTX ...

just yer basic 20/50 is fine. Harley Davidson's is plenty good enough or I sometimes put Valvoline VR1 in mine when I had it. NOT Halfords classic though.

Agree with the above, just done my first oil and filter change on the R11s using Motul 20/50 mineral oil. The R12S gets fancy stuff though.
