My right hand doesn't half get numb these days (no it's not that!!! ). It seems to be getting worse. Do you think it's down to the valve adjustment? I've got 4k on the bike now, and the service schedule has vavles at 6k. I don't fancy another two or three months of this. Any advice.

Could either be the valves need adjusting or the throttle bodies need balancing. If you're around next Sunday morning, I'll be bringing my Twinmax along to the Boxertrix Southern meet to balance Mr. Bonas's throttle bodoes. I'd be happy to do yours too (and anyone else who turns up). Venue TBD, but probably a Newlands Corner meet up for coffee and throttle balancing, then a bimble off in a general southerly direction.

How long have you had the bike??,is this your first summer?,4k?? while a Twinmax will certainley help,i'm afraid not half as much as another 6-8 thousand miles.

Twinmax,new plugs every 2k,Shell Optimate and at least ten thousand miles on the clock,mine was a complete shit till it broke that mileage,and warm weather doesn't help either.

I can remember perfecting ther trick of rideing it with just the palms of my hands on the grips,and if the weather was really warm,rode my Tiger!!!!

interesting your comment on Optimax, I have just dropped using Optimax as I was suffering severe pinking under medium to heavy load in fifth or sixth gears. Now that I've gone back to Unleaded either from Texaco or Shell and no problems........ This is not the first time I've experienced problems with Optimax as my Vincent run like shit on it until I went back to Texaco unleaded, it knocked my max speed from 90 down down to 80 however the R11S did run sweet through winter with Optimax so it seems to be a heat issue here me tinks...... mine has just crested 16k miles

New plugs every 2k !!!!!!!!! Surely not?

New plugs every 2k, New Pilot Sports every 3.5k, 1l of oil every 1k. Flippin heck! I'm going to buy CB90 ex pizza bike, or an ex MotoGP bike - either will be less maintenace.

I bet there's a chain on there somewhere that no-one told me about.

The optimax thing could be something to avoid Rob, My bike runs like shit on it - vibrates like a Ramapant Rabbit! (wot's one o' those then?) whenever I use it. Gives bloody good MPG tho.

Missus Darth's Wampant Wabbit runs rough on it too strangely enough! But she does have the petrol version

Would that be the electric start model or the rachet-pull-tether model

The ol' Optimax is very strange, it wasn't until the last month that the bike started to get really rough and pink readily, yet now on pool unleaded she's sweet and smooth again. If I could be arsed I would pull the rocker covers off and check the valve clearances to see if they had changed, but if the weathers good on Sunday I may make the meet and take the offer of getting my throttle bodies checked as I'm intregued by this gizmo since I've never had to do synchonisation with single cylinders

Don't know why Optimax would cause pinking? It's supposed to be less prone to pinking. It's 98RON isn't it? If your motor's got an active knock sensor it should allow you to run more advance than with 95RON. Could be a bad batch or contamination on site?

If you've got an agricultural motor like our's it doesn't have an active knock sensor, so the timing is set up to run on regular fuel. So putting 98RON shouldn't get you any more performance. It might have different aditives, or detergents, in though. Feel sorry for our US chums, their regular is 87RON, premium is 89RON and super is 93RON. Crap gas!

Funny thing eh,mines like chalk and cheese,it runs really well on Optimax,i dread haveing to put normal unleaded in,so much so,if i'm strapped for fuel i'll just put a couple of quids worth in till i find some,mine runs like a steam hammer with normal unleaded .
