Does everyone get vides at 4000rpm?
Hi Guys.
I've always felt that my R1100s was a bit vibey at 4000-4750 rpm.
I have recently fitted, new air & fuel filters, spark plugs, oil, Adjusted valve clearances and just twinmaxed the TBs.
However I still get more vibes at these revs than I would like. It's not horrendous, but I would have liked to improve it. Alternatively if I know that they are all like this I can learn to accept and love the vibes.
So come on, cut the BS. You haven't got them all set up super smooth have you. They're all like this aren't they!
ps if anyone is after panniers check out the for sales...

As much discussed on here.....yes they do have vibes....this is a twin sir!
The other things to consider.........a decent Y piece and open race cans.
And ofcourse....they get better with age.....20K miles and upwards
Bailey.

The thing that makes (IMO) the 11S more vibey is the engine is mounted a bit higher in the frame and also the inclusion of the rear C-piece of frame not present in any of the other oil heads.
The other thing to check out is the compression on each cylinder; a minute difference between the 2 and you'll never get perfect smoothness.

mine is a right pig at 4k - coming up to 40k miles... it changes depending on how I sit on the bike - worse with arches of feet on footpegs, better with balls of feet on pegs... and interestingly (for me anyway) its worse with my Daytonas than the old HG boots.
Bar vibes have never bothered me.
Just go faster - at 5k mine is pretty smooth for a on old boxer

Oh yes...vibes, I remember them...
Seriously...
Although the S, in whatever incarnation of its 11-ness, does vibrate more than a hell of a lot of bikes* I never actually found it a big problem. It's fairly low frequency anyway so never gave me numb fingers/arse/feet etc even on 500+ mile days. At around 91-92ph in top all the S's I've owned seemed to hit a sweet spot as if all the vibe frequencies harmonised an dall was smooth; everything was peace & love at this point.
The twin spark motor, IME, is a smoother engine than the older single jobbie.
*Get a ride on a solid-mount Harley Sportster then tell us the S vibrates

Ah the old Vibe chestnut, i have read so many post about this subject, me being a recipient of the dead hands syndrome, I was recommended the de-cat pipe, and while it may have made a small difference, although i cant say I have noticed it, it sounds real good and i love annoying my moron neighbours.
I have a pair of heinGericke penguin gloves and with the extra padding it cuts down on the vibes, but alas my hands get too hot. So I guess like many before and more to come, will just have to put up with it.

These Grip Puppies look like they might be worth a try, anyone seen them in the UK?

You steer a bike through the foot pegs!!! you've zero input with your instep on e'm.
Quite agree
I find if I have a pillion with big feet (6'3 work colleagues with size 11s), I can't get my feet far enough back to ride on the balls of my feet.
The other times I've noticed it recently is on long tedious motorway journeys, particularly in traffic, where I shuffle around to get comfy - then its nothing to do with bike inputs and all about combatting numb legs - toes, instep and heels go on the pegs, even feet off dangling - thats how I found out about the vibe thing.
