I fitted my remus Y piece the other night and as it was such a brilliant day today, I went to the lakes with my daughter,
My bike is soooo loud now, is this right, checked all joint to see if it blowing and its not, sounds like a straight through jobby...Not sure if I like it or not.

PARDON ????
I'll fetch me coat.....
Can't says it made mine particularly loud, certainly gave it more of a growl, but wouldn't say too loud. Standard cans still ????

Bought my BCR with a Remus Y piece fitted and its extremely loud! the previous owner had it MOT'd and it passed but a riding buddy of mine has a Mille with an illegal race can and the BCR is miles louder than that!!
I changed my system 5 lid for an Arai GT Venom and the bike was so loud i got headache after only a short ride so i had to invest in some decent ear plugs
i had a slight blow at the joint under the seat as i think the remus pipe is marginally too short compared to the stock one. I took the anvil type packing piece out of the clamp and its better now.
I know what you mean though, its too loud for me!!!
must have hit middle age

The Remus system on my bike has been a revelation. Real biking again just like the old days with the Laverda Montjhuic. On full song the Remus produces a sound which is very Ducati like and with ear plugs one just hears a background drone like sound which is quite attractive. Who'd have a four cylinder bike with an exhaust note like that ?
Just one word of advice if you have fitted the system......watch the small M6 allen bolts that connect the y piece as they are prone to seizing up if they are not stainless and smeared with copperslip prior to assembly.

Cheers bluemanc and scotty, I know i will get used to it, just a creature of habit i suppose.
Have got the plugs ready for another ride today and all bolts are smeared with copperslip, that good about the MOT, mine just went through last month so I have a while to wait. And Ill have a look at the clamp. Ill have all the lads at work tonight having a listen and no doubt commenting, they have a variety of bikes but not like mine
cheers keith

Have run a few times with it now and was slowly getting used to it, setting off home from work this morning when the engine was cold, noticed that condensate was dripping from the bottom push fit joint, i rang darren at motorworks and he was very helpful, they recommend when fitting one of these systems that you put instant high temp gasket on the two push fit joints on the up pipe, BMW had this problem with their own system, now I had checked 3 or 4 times for blowing and couldnt feel any, Ive left it 8hrs and just cracked it over, to be honest it doesnt sound any quieter just doesnt drip.
(Every cloud) As I have no love for my immediate neighbours , Cant wait til I'm on early starts
further burble on the exhaust note

In my opinion the removal of the cat is the element which changes the exhaust sound, radically, and the whole nature of the bike. What suckers we are paying for a cat, then paying to ditch it, y piece, air filter, management chip blah de blah. Even then the exhaust configuration of two into one into two with a stupid cross over in front of the sump is total bollocks. I m no rocket scientist but i think that two into one big mother under the rear seat would be better and probably what the design engineers wanted until bmw marketing men said they wanted the Bologna look. That aside gentlemen can anyone tell me how to remove the baffles from the laser end cans? I have painstakingly drilled out the spot weld (all of it) and (bloody good steel) de burred with dremmel. I hate to say it but without resorting to a bit of the old gbh i can not see a way it will release. Having had a V twin superbike I am not convinced that the flat twin has the same mellow boomy resonance, my wife says the boxer sounds more lawnmowerish. Even so you lot can have my noise but i wear ear plugs cos a quiet ride is a smooth ride ask Rossi. Nigh night.

Picked my bike up today. It feels like it has another 10bhp on tap in the midrange. Also, the rapid rise of the revs is a revelation (although this may also be to do with the K&N and the Lazer race chip).
The sound is a little louder than I would have liked, but it's still a deep, booming rumble, mellowing to a pleasant drone in 6th on the motorway. I found that I was dipping the clutch just to hear the revs rise on the exits of roundabouts!
I meant to get the bike Dyno'd just before and after and didn't get round to it. But blimey, what a difference. It's not just the sound in this case, it is the increased tractability and smoothness that makes a big difference.
Chuffed to bits, despite being £350+ lighter (most of that cost was changing my torque arm, which had to be drilled out, and the service). Mechanic did mention that the main fittings on the Lazer can were a good 6mm too long (the bits with rubbers that slide onto pins). Took them a while to grind them down to get a good fit.
Ended up with a Remus / Lazer hybrid system; harder to seal but seems to work fine. No blowing or increase in vibes. In fact, in the crucial 80-100mph zone it seems smoother!
