R1200S - Akra Discoloring?

Hi Everyone,

New here from the States... Colorado. Didn't see an "Introduce Yourself" forum topic, so this is my first post.

Quick question I have for now, is thinking of importing the new Akrapovic exhaust can/muffler for the R1200S... not a full system, just the silencer.

The importer is telling me he's heard stories of the Akra titanium exhaust showing discoloring from heat for the titanium is too thin. I think he wants to sell me a Laser system instead. Does anyone here have experience with the Akra silencer on the R1200S and is it discoloring from heat?

Thx, Steve

Hi Steve,

Welcome to the forum, and I hope you will be posting your excellent video's and photo's over this side of the pond.

Do you recognise the photo in the top right, might be too far away

sorry to digress about photo's but unfortunately I do not have a Akrapovic exhaust but a HPE.

Oh my! That looks like Factory Butte from my Utah ride report with images/video! Same pic? Regardless, stunning image isn't it.

As for the Akra exhaust I've decided the cost, along with the uncertainty of the metal thickness, has me reluctant to place an order.

Steve,

You sent me the photo so I could get a copy of it to put it up in my house in France, and yes it does look very good framed. Got my Jars of Clay C.D and East/West, very good listening.

Take a look at the HPE system, I have one but it is still in the box unfortunately.

Ah yes... Now I remember! Fading brain cells as I age is my excuse. Very nice to see and thanks much for noting it!
