center stand spring
any easy ways of gettin it off and then back on again ?
Not something I have to worry about, but normal practice is to leave the spring connected and unbolt the stand in its folded up position. Then you can normally lever the stand out of place and remove the spring afterwards.
Refitting is, as always so easily put in Mr Haynes finest, the reverse of the above. Connect up the spring and then slot or lever the stand back into position with the spring in its 'relaxed' mode.

I haven't tried it for a while but I recall using a cable tie at some point. Ring spanner also works. Anything that gives you enough to hold and pull the spring into position and then just move it to the open end of the spring and off. If you're putting a new spring on the old one works too.

Forgive me father for I have sinned... ex S owner moved onto pastures new with four cylinders and a chain... and back to a twin, albeit in a V.

Removed mine last year for a track day using Me-109's theory. Leave the spring on and undo the stand retaining bolts and once the tension is out of the spring you can easily remove it. Saves looking all over the garage floor for the missing bits.......
Same principle putting it back, attach spring under no tension, fasten retaing bolt loosely on l.h.s and then use the stand as a lever to pull it back into its normal position on r.h.s, pop in retaining bolts and re-torque to finish job. Takes no more than 10 mins each time.
Good luck
Geoff
