R1100s riser bars back to stock

Hi,
I've recently bought an R1100s.
It has riser bars ie clip ons are above the yoke not below. Apologies if any of my terminology is incorrect.
I'd like to put back to standard ie below the yoke.
Is this simple to do or does it involve complications with the forks eg mine appear to be longer than a friend has on his R1100s.

Your advice is appreciated.

What colour is the anodising on the fork legs? The RWB Boxercup used the forks from the GS of that time to lift it up as the racers were complaining about getting the heads down too easy

The other thing to be aware of is that there are two standards of factory BMW bar:

- Below the yoke (standard) version has a tab with a hole for the anchoring of the bar (to prevent rotation on the leg) via a 6mm bolt under the yoke
- Above the yoke (comfort) version has a tab that sits in a notch in the top of the front of the yoke (to prevent rotation on the leg)

If you have the standard bar then moving back under the yoke is a relatively simple task. If you have the comfort bar then these will not fit under the yoke.........I've had two R1100S one with each type.......I only learnt there were two types of BMW bar when I tried to move the Comfort Type under the yoke and couldn't!

Thx for info above.
My forks are silver.
The clip ons on my bike are the comfort ones. However mechanic thinks they can be put below the yoke just won't have the lug to seat them in the yoke.

If you put the standard bars above the yokes you don’t have the locating pin/bolt, I had mine above the yokes for years, never had ad an issue with them moving so it shouldn’t be a problem.

Shouldn't be a problem with brake lines.

I tried the comfort bars (well actually only the one) below the yoke and it didn't work for me......that's how I found out there were two types of bars.

Standard bars, as the most common type, are not expensive from eBay.

Hello Karl,
I have a pair of standard bars surplus to requirements and wouldn't mind a pair of comfort ones (a previous off broke both wrists)... If you want to do a swap?
As they're not affixed I could send them to you and you could send yours by return when you've swapped, minimising your down time..
Cheers,
Simon
P. S. If you could send a pic just to make sure we're on the same hymn sheet

This thread encouraged me to have a look at the spare bars that came with my bike.

My 99 bike has the comfort bars fitted above the yokes.

These spare ones are standard bars, pics for reference.

Simon, I've simply moved my existing bars below the yoke (it was a simple task).

Hello Karl,
I'm in Northumberland near Hexham.
I looked at flipping the standard bars left to right so that the lug with the bolt hole was flush with the top of the yoke but the angle of the bars was a bit odd.. I. E. uncomfortable left/right angle for wrists.
Have you flipped your comfort bars so that the tang engages with the slot below the yoke as it did above the yoke?
Anyhoo get back to me if you want standard bars.
Cheers.

Simon I simply moved them below the yoke as they were.
