Hi. Does anyone have a second hand one. i do not need the latest model as my bike is pre 2010.
I have a 2000 model r1100s and just want to do my own checks. There are cheep Chinese knock offs but i have read conflicting reports on them.Someone may have a genuine one lying around collecting dust. Even a report or link to a knockoff i may consider. Please pm me if you can help.I could set a payment through Pay wave. Also what info can i get with a 911 on this age bike ?
Thanks

With the Joe Public version I think you can only register 10 bikes and they can’t be erased. As long as the previous owner hasn’t registered bikes you should be ok (I think that’s correct)

I think at any stage in ownership of the ‘enthusiast’ model - you can pay a sum, to upgrade to the professional model (unlimited bikes).

Prob only worthwhile when you get one which is almost ‘full’

Yep you're right Dave.

I own one and you can do simple interogation of errors on multiple bikes, but if you want to do deeper functions or resets you have to register the bike to the unit, and there's only 10 such registrations.

Enthusiast 911's can be updated to professional for a large fee :)

I use mine on my BoxerCup (although it doesn't count as a registration if I recall correctly as registered bikes have to be Canbus ones), and on the K12GT and F800GS. I can't use it on my R12RT as it requires the newer version which I believe is LINBus compatible now.

I've just bought a GS911 wifi and getting it to communicate with the wifi in my workshop is proving to be a nightmare. I can retrieve data using it as a Hotspot for my iPhone, but the service functionality is still not available on it. Any tips on set up via wifi to an ipad would be appreciated. Thanks.

I think there are certain functions which don’t require VIN registration on the unit, and in any case - the notion that “I need to have 9 or 10 slots available” is unrealistic.

I reckon if you get one with 4 or 5 - you will still have a sellable asset by the time you are wanting rid of it.
